What is lead generation?
If you’re reading this, is because you’ve most probably heard before, at least once, the term “lead generation”. We’ve came across that concept which, according to Hubspot, is known as “the process of attracting prospects to your business, and nurturing them with the goal of converting them into a customer”.
When a stranger shows interest in your business, it starts a process that’s natural. But when you promote your business, with the goal of reaching prospects, it turns into something that you prepared for and are ready to convert that potential leads into clients.
The new technologies we currently count with have transformed the way we deal with lead generation, since we have tools and platforms at our arms reach that we can use to get new clients to our business.
We currently count with new technologies like social media, messaging apps (WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook Messenger…), paid Ads (Google Ads, Facebook Ads), and more, which have transformed the way we deal with lead generation, since we have all of these tools and platforms at our arms reach that we can use to get new clients to our business.
How can you apply lead generation to your business?
As we already established, lead generation is something every business needs in order to reach more prospects. This can be applied to every business, and yours is not an exception!
On Hubspot article’s “Lead Generation: A Beginner’s Guide to Generating Business Leads the Inbound Way”, we can seehow this process works:
- First, a visitor comes across your business through your website, blog or social media page.
- That visitor clicks on a button, image or message that you are showing on that platform to encourage them to take some sort of action.
- That message, known as a Call To Action, takes your visitor to another web page that’s designed with the purpose of capturing the lead’s information so they can get an offer.
- Once they’re on that web page, better known as a Landing Page, the visitor fills out a form in exchange for the offer.
- Lastly, you have their information, and just like that: you have a new lead!
All of this sounds amazing, and now you may be wondering “and how do I get some leads for my business?”. Well, here we have some tricks that you can put to action during your lead generation process:
Tricks for beginners:
1.- Define your target market
First, you have to define your target market, meaning: the customers you aim your services and products to. They are the potential clients you have in mind when offering your products or services, which may take advantage of them to solve the issues they face in their lives.
2.- Pick a way to reach that target market
Then, you need to think of a way to reach that established target market, with Facebook Ads, emails, postcards, or any other method that works with that exact type of customers. You must do a research on how they prefer to be contacted, and what platforms they use on their day-to-day.
3.- Create irresistible offers to attract the target market
Later on, you create irresistible offers for that target market, understanding their pain-points and making solutions that will solve their problems, so you can attract them to your business. An irresistible offer doesn’t just have to be a discount or a promotion, it is meant to be a solution that’ll peak their interest.
4.- Have a place where leads can reach you
You need to have a place where you can get those leads, either it’s a website, Facebook Business Page, or another online platform, where you receive the first contact of potential clients that are interested in your products and services. This is why it’s so important to at least have a presence in the online world: so your prospects can find you and get to know you.
5.- Show valuable information of your business
That chosen place must be neat and ready, where your potential customers can find valuable information about your business, such as: the services you offer, office hours, contact information, and everything that could be useful for them to get a better idea on who you are and convince them that you’re the best option for what they require.
6.- Run a campaign
And last but not least, you start running the campaign. It could be an email and/or SMS campaign, an Ads campaign (Google Ads, Facebook Ads), a printed campaign… Whatever you can think of! The important thing here is that you have studied your target market, have chosen the accurate way of contacting them, and have an offer that’s hard for them to resist.
Now you know how you can start your lead generation process! Keep in mind that this is a learning journey that takes time, so don’t let it take you down if you feel like this is too much information to process at once.
